A ¨ BANDA 2024

The Su Palatu Fotografic Association, in collaboration with Vigne Surrau, has announced the selection of participants for the A.Banda photographic exhibition 2024, the sixth annual event dedicated to contemporary photography from and in Sardinia.

The selection was made from 240 applications received, and based on the places available, 100 photographers were chosen, representing a broad cross-section of contemporary photography.

The 100 photographs selected will be exhibited for a whole year within the gardens of Vigne Surrau in Arzachena, S.P. Porto Cervo. The inauguration is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 29th.

All the works exhibited will also be eligible for the Surrau 2024 Prize: total prize money of 7,000 euros will be awarded to the top five winners, selected by a specialist team of judges.

The jury will select an initial shortlist of 20 works, which will be published in the coming days. Before the exhibition opens, the names of the five photographers who will share the prize will be revealed: first place will receive €3,000; second, third, fourth, and fifth place will receive €1,000 each.

The jury is composed of Tino Demuro, president of Vigne Surrau; Sonia Borsato, curator and professor of Art History at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari; Valeria Brandano, photographer and professor of Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari; Mariolina Cosseddu, curator and former professor of Art History; Ivo Serafino Fenu, curator and former professor of Art History; Mario Saragato, photographer and independent curator; and Luca Spano, artist and co-curator of the A.Banda exhibition.
The jury’s decision shall be final and binding.

In addition to the Surrau Prize, there will also be a People’s Jury Prize, with a prize of €3,000. This will be awarded to the photographer whose photograph receives the most votes from the public, who will be invited to vote via a special postcard they will receive during their visit to the exhibition.
Voting will be open from June 29th to September 30th. In the days following the closing of voting, votes will be counted and the People’s Prize winner will be announced.

The A.Banda 2024 exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue, published by Soter, which features all the works of the photographers on display, accompanied by critical reflections by curators Salvatore Ligios and Luca Spano.
